After completing his deployment to Iraq in 2010 and 4 years of honorable service, achieving the rank of Sergeant, Nick Smith (company owner) transitioned out of the active United States Army.  Returning to his home in Tampa Florida, he was greeted with a years worth of letters from the community HOA demanding he have his paver driveway cleaned and sealed to maintain the nice appearance & curb appeal to avoid pending fines.
Nick contacted multiple companies for an estimate who were all charging very high prices for this service, but none of the contractors seemed educated enough to answer some of the simple technical questions he had.

Nick began to research the process & procedures to only come up empty-handed with nothing but scary pictures of botched jobs, and conflicting information online.

So he began contacting the sealant manufacturers, 2 local brick paver manufacturing companies and even joining online blogs to get good information to get the job done correctly. Again, coming up empty-handed – it appeared there were no companies that were true ‘experts’ in the industry. Based on the information gathered, Nick cleaned and sealed his pavers himself. Quickly gaining attention from the entire community. Neighbors began to ask for him to seal their paves! After 10 completed projects on his street, and his phone now ringing constantly – Dura Guard was born!

Since the company was started – Nick has grown Dura Guard Paver Sealing to the largest volume brick paver cleaning and sealing company in the entire state! Completing an annual average of 3M square ft. of brick paver, travertine & concrete cleaning, and sealing, covering nearly the entire state of Florida.

After a flurry of phone calls nearly daily from contractors all over the United States, Nick saw an opportunity to train other contractors for a fee, who now travel to him quarterly for ‘Paver Boot Camp’. In 2013, the birth of his training organization ‘The Brick Paver Sealing Institute’ was born. A 5-day, hands-on boot camp program that trains between 30-50 contractors a year on all of the proper procedures of brick paver cleaning and sealing, travertine cleaning and sealing, concrete cleaning and sealing, failed sealant stripping and restoration, efflorescence removal, calcium restoration, color restoration and tinting, paver leveling and repair training, and rust removal, among other training classes – growing other small businesses throughout the nation to be as successful as Dura Guard has become.

Nick now operates his home office out of our 6,000 sq ft warehouse in Weeki Wachee, Florida which is the main branch that services Hernando, Pasco, Citrus, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Tampa & all surrounding areas. 
With nearly all employees of Dura Guard and all new hires composed of military veterans, each employee is trained and certified personally by Nick.
